The World’s First All-Electric Truck by Mercedes-Benz

Topics Covered

The concept of an all-electric truck is becoming a reality. The Urban eTruck is coming to life, and the first 20 customers will receive their trucks this year. They can test drive it for the next year.

Mercedes-Benz is developing the first all-electric heavy-duty truck in the world.

The initial manufacturing of the Urban eTruck will be a smaller series. This will weed out the problems that are likely to occur with any new project. This process is the beta testing process. The end goal of this is to reach full scale production by 2020.

The Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck was first introduced at the International Commercial Vehicle Show in 2016.

The manufacturer is in the process of speaking with and choosing 20 potential customers that are willing to use the Urban eTruck for their businesses.

The test period is 12 months. Within these 12 months, truck use is monitored and supported by Mercedes-Benz’s road testing department.

The truck will have a range of up to 120 miles, a payload of 12.8 tons, and a permitted 18- or 25-ton vehicle weight.

The inside of the truck will have either a refrigerated body or a dry box body or offered as a platform vehicle, and the charger is as heavy-duty as the rest of it.
