The Hummer EV is looking to take on some top competitors. With a complete overhaul, this vehicle looks to tackle the newly promoted Ford Bronco as well as the fully-electric Cybertruck. How does it stand up to the test?
Upon inspection, the truck looks to upend two major markets. The first is the electric pickup market, the second – the lifestyle market.
With these two markets at their disposal, GM looks to make the vehicle shine.
Lets take a look at the Cybertruck. Tesla announced the truck in late 2019. It was the first-ever fully electric pickup truck. In demonstrations it showed that it could out-tow an F-150. With an Electric battery that could put out close to 900 horses, this vehicle is no joke. On the flip side the Cybertruck is ugly. designed to look like something out of an 80’s sci-fi adventure, the truck deters potential new customers looking to get into the game.
The Hummer EV Has More Options Than Both Combined
The Ford Bronco – on the other hand- has all the lifestyle features you could ask for. Are you adventurous? Do you like off-roading? Do you do extreme sports and need a vehicle to get you to your destination? Then the Ford Bronco seems like the best bet! Unfortunately, the vehicle has not switched over to the electric market – nor does it look like it will do so in the near future. Instead, Ford is marketing cross-overs and compact. While the engine in the Bronco is nowhere near as large as its predecessors, the cost of fuel is a large deterrent for many looking to buy a new car.
Overall, the Hummer EV offers the best of both worlds. With a fully electric motor pumping out a whopping 1000 horsepower, the vehicle looks to provide all the lifestyle elements and combine that with the electric range of a high-end Tesla.
It appears that the Hummer EV will dominate the market upon release. The only thing we can speculate now is the overall cost of owning one.
